Technically, my whole artistic process has been focused on details. Watercolor and ink took over my studio after searching for new techniques to liberate my style.Stepping away from acrylic paint and collages, freeing myself from minutiae work. Searching for the commotion without artifice, clearing my stage. Watercolor gives one the possibility to work in absolute intensity as an acrobat in a storm. Hazard gets into the process and takes part of the result.
Often listening to music when I work, the idea of integrating a song for each portrait came up as an evidence. A melody and a voice taking part in the process. I wanted to give a fourth dimension to these character, tell a story.
Working with clay (since 2003) is a marvelous complement to watercolor. The clay’s tactile and sensual texture is extremely slow to work with. It takes days to dry the clay and the surprises of firing and glazing take you each time to new territories.
